That's one good (though perhaps unexpected) positive result from a Trump presidency.

We now have bipartisan agreement that certain policies are just plain wrong. Both parties agree that the imposition of tariffs results in trade wars that are harmful to all parties and help no one.

Deficit spending was a largely ignored issue since President Clinton tried and failed to make fiscal responsibility a permanent feature of government. Clinton recruited members of both parties, including a majority of Republicans, to help him pass various bills that made balanced budgets a reality. In his last two years in office there were actually small surpluses. By the year 2000, any thought for balanced budgets went out the window. Eight years of W. Bush followed by eight years of Obama, along with Congress controlled alternatively by both parties saw skyrocketing annual deficits and exponentially increasing public debt, and no one seemed to be concerned at all.

Now that Trump's economic policies have literally doubled annual deficits to over a trillion dollars in only three years, members of both parties and significant numbers of ordinary citizens are starting to sound the alarm again, that we can't keep going down this road and something needs to be done about it.

Trump's immigration policy may be popular among his hardcore base, but the vast majority of Americans consider them be be a horrible disaster and a genuinely un-American assault on our national values. Immigration policy reform is a leading issue now and it seems likely that Congress will soon act to make some positive progress which will not only be more humane for illegal immigrants but will also enable more immigrants to come into the country legally and feel more welcome.

Both W. Bush and Obama took a lot of shit from their critics for being unworthy of the office of president. They were mocked and ridiculed for everything they did or didn't do. Now both of them look like paragons of statesmanship and icons of respectability compared to Trump.

Tangerine Man philosophy is, 'how can you be in debt if you don't pay your bills'? Deficit, what's a deficit?
How many bankruptcy's has our fearless leader been through - and lost?
Remember his 'grab 'em by the ---- they like it line? It's changed - now it's ,'grab the country by the wallet the tax payers like it'.

"This is the agreement the administration has negotiated, this is the deal the House has passed, this is the deal President Trump is waiting and eager to sign into law, this is the deal that every member of this body should support," McConnell said on Thursday ahead of the vote.

The two-year budget deal was reached last week among Democratic and Republican congressional leaders as well as the president, who urged GOP lawmakers to vote in favor of the bill. "Go for it Republicans, there is always plenty of time to CUT," Trump tweeted.
