I can't start my 560 SEL and I suspect the Crankshaft Position Sensor to be the problem

I've searched everywhere after the part but its sold out everywhere, so I turned to this forum for help

The part number is: 0261210022.

I live in Europe but can order from USA

Thanks in advance

did you test the crank position sensor? I wouldn’t be wasting time looking for a cps unless you’re sure it tests bad. Check for spark, fuel and if need be compression.

Do you not have spark to the plugs? Also I know of someone with a rear cps for 560sel M117 engine.

If you have a nice strong spark I would suspect fuel delivery problem. Pull the air cleaner off. try some gas or spray some carb cleaner Down the throat/ plate and the try to start. If it try’s to start you know it’s a fuel problem. Fuel pump relays are a common cause of this symptom.

How much gas should I pour?

if it trys to start, I would pull the FPRelay and jump pins 7 8 in the relay socket. they are numbered. This will energize the fuel pumps and if the pumps are in good working order the car should start if so remove the jumper wire from the pins and ge a FPR.

What should I use to jump the pins?

Does not have to be that sophisticated to test things. Peel both ends of multi strand cable and fold the peeled ends back. Stick the ends to the socket holes.
