I have a 99 S500 Grand Edition. I have a crack in the wood on the steering wheel.

Does any one have experience repairing them?

Cracked, as in the varnish/finish is cracked, or cracked as in broken and non-functioning?

Suggest you get a second-hand wheel, from Eddie A or another (to use in the meantime), and send your wheel to APSIS USA, INC. - Order on Line - The Final Touch on Autosport and Luxury! and they'll do a spectacular job for you. Remember, you have the dark/black finish, so trying to buy that particular finish will be dear. The process for re-finishing your wheel could take a few months and cost a few hundred dollars, but you'll essentially get back a brand new steering wheel.

The owner of Apsis is a fellow named Jersey, and he and his wife run a small boutique operation specializing in this sort of thing. Highly recommended...by me.
