Hello.
I cracked the lower middle part of my front -Spoiler/Air Dam- parking the car and slightly hitting a parking Block.
The crack is clean and is about .050 wide.
Is there a way of repairing this for a DIY 'er?

Mike.

Not so sure... some gal backed into my car a while back and her insurance paid for the repairs. The body shop insisted on a new front fascia, saying that the yellow fiberglass (or whatever) that our bumper covers and spoilers are made of do not repair very well. Okay with me - they put a new part on.

I just couldn't believe how fragile it is. I touched the parking block and the Spoiler essentially dragged on top of it, more than a direct hit!
Damn!

hope i can help with this.

I own a plastic welding and repair business in the uk. if it's possible to send me a picture of the damage I can help more. drill a small hole at the end of the crack to halt the distortion and then gently run a soldering iron in a tig welding motion down the crack to seal it. if you are struggling to get it to mould together you can use a paperclip and the soldering iron to force into the plastic as a re inforcement, if you need to fill in any gaps in the plastic then you can turn offcuts of plastic into welding rods and melt them in. hope this helps? message me with any problems. thanks. Tim.

Hi.
Thanks for the help.
I'll have to wait until it gets a little warmer. We've just had snow and it's a bit cold. It's supposed to warm up soon to plus 4 C.
I'll give it a try then.
Cheers Tim.

Hi there have my own bodyshop in the uk.and if you have a local automotive paint factors near you,you can get a 2 part plastic glue which is designed for repairing splits and cracks in bumpers and other plastics.comes in a syringe and it mixes the 2parts in the nozzle and you can get a reinforcing mesh which you bridge the back of the split or crack make sure you key the area up on the back of the split and then pump the glue over the mesh.it sets nice and quickly and gives a good strong repair it's quicker and easier then plastic welding.
