Hey guys I just sold my 1990 420 SEL I had the car for 3 years.

I loved the car but it was too big and hard on fuel for what I needed it for.

Anyways looking for a nice W201 190e now. What would you guys suggest?

I see there's two motor styles 2.3L and 2.6L. Which one is better to go with I'm leaning towards the 2.3L for efficiency.

I currently own a 1987 Bmw 325is M tech I

here's a picture

Anyways if some of you could help it would be great....

Another question for you guys is the difficulty of Automatic to Manual swap.

Does a 1985 2.3L manual transmission differ from a 1991 - 1993 manual transmission?

Basically if I buy a 1992 2.3L automatic and I have a 1985 2.3L manual, can I swap parts...

Cheers
and many thanks

wow, that's amazing...

my 325is gets 22 MPG on the highway :(

I'm leaning towards the 2.3L for efficiency. I assume it gets better millage that the 2.6?

Thanks very much for your help by the way

Anyone know if they changed the manual trans. throughout production

ie. if you buy a 1985 for parts (manual) and you want to put that tranny into a 1992/1993 2.3L 190e will it work.

They are both 2.3L just different years. I know that Mercedes changed a lot between 1985 and 1993, but is the transmission different.

thanks very much guys

Just for sake of information there are many motor styles...6 of which can be found in the US easier than the rest.

1.8
2.0
2.2D
2.5D
2.5DT
2.6
2.3
2.3-16
2.5-16

Then you go with the AMG and Brabus tuned for more engine types......tho Brabus only tuned 3 cars...still a bigger engine...

Went on a lil road trip not to long ago and managed to go almost 500 miles on a tank of super v-power shell gasoline.Equals depending on speed 23-29 miles to the gallon.
