Hello everyone, been lurking on these forums for a few years and finally decided to join.. mainly because the company car I have been driving for awhile I finally purchased from them. A 1995 SL 500 with Bose Speaker System.

I purchased an older system off of a friend and have decided to at least try to tackle the installation myself before turning my vehicle over to a professional.

What I purchased was an Alpine IVA-C800 Unit with brain that also came with a 12 Disc CD Changer (CHA-1214) and an Ipod Interface Adapter (KCA-420i) and I am wanting to install this in the Benz.

I know that I need to get the wiring harness, installation kit and I do believe a bose speaker adapter so that I do not have to change out the bose system.

I have begun taking apart different parts of the car and am currently trying to find the wiring that goes back to the current CD Changer and Antenna.. I am not for sure if they are under the car or what.. I have not yet wanted to remove a lot of the interior carpet but may have too.

Can anyone give me some advice as to what from experience or knowledge is the best way to install this setup. I know I am going to eventually get a DVD Changer or DVD adapter and probably the navigation system to go along with this.

I also can tell you that behind the drivers seat is the Amp and Bass Unit and on the passenger seat there is a storage compartment which I am thinking is where I can put the brain of the unit and possibly the IPod interface.

Any tips would be helpful otherwise I will just keep doing what I normally do and that is tearing things apart with photos and then trying to put it all back together =)

thanks,

Brad Clampitt

Well I got in touch with Crutchfield and order the wire harness and the antenna adapter which I was told were the only two things I need.

Now my only question really is where are all the current wires located? Underneath the door seal or do I somewhere else like running along the seats.

I will probably find out tomorrow as I put the car back together and wait for my goodies to come in =)
