Hey guys, I'm new to this forum stuff and I'm kinda hoping you good people can help me out with some sound advice from the experts! [:D]

I have a '94 E220 Coupe (Facelift) and I put a set of 18" AMG copies on it which are 8" fronts running 225/40 and 8 1/2 rears running 255/35 (all Avon ZZ1's). The problem is that it looks like a tractor as it is not lowered and it also rubs out on the back slightly when you have more than 2 people in the car.

What I would like to know guys is what you think would be my best combination of tyre size and spring kit as I need to get it sitting right to get that pimpin look!

Really nice coupe.

I'm not sure, but 255 in the back is quite wide for a W124 (!). You'd better put 225 front and rear.

You need to roll your fenders if you haven't done so already. Those wheels are a bit wide for a w124, but the advice above is correct with respect to tire size. I have the same exact wheels on mine, except 8" wide all around. Looks like mine are about the same off-set. I have H&R springs, and the rubbing is only noticeable when I have my steering wheel completely turned... I don't have rubbing issues in the rear. Good luck. Your car is gorgeous.

man all u need is a roll on ur fenders, and a correct wheel offset i use a 19x8.5 in front and 19x10 rear ,use a 225/35/19 toyo and 275/35/19 no problem at all .so 255 40 /18 should be no probs as long as u get the correct wheel offset and u must see where the rubbing is ( outside or inside )hope this is useful.oh and drop ot with eibach springs do not use H&R coz it only drops a little and one more advice if u drop it cut half of the stopper so that u'll still have a comfy ride .

Well thanks guys very much for your advice, it's much appreciated!

I think I'm going to get the fenders rolled, not sure where there are specialists in my area in England...wonder what sort of cost I'm looking at?

How about paint chipping? Surely even with that special tool they use,the paint on the metal is not going to stretch that much without cracking is it?

Is it worth just getting the rears rolled as thats where my problrm is?

Do you guys have any pics of your cars so I can get an idea of ride height with the different spring kits?

Sorry lots of questions but you guys are helpful

One word of caution about fender-rolling: Make the terms of the work very clear. I took mine in to a body shop, they told me they'd be careful with the paint, and that they'd touch it up if needed. Well, they mutilated the paint. Even though they put paint on where metal was exposed, they did nothing to seal it up to prevent future chipping.

I hear the word is to make sure they use some kind of heat gun so that the paint becomes more pliable while they roll the lip back.

I actually took my car back 3 times and had to actually pull flakes off of the paint and show them before they even did anything about it. I the end, I had to spend a day sanding the paint down inside each wheel well, spraying anti-rust sealant in there, and a spray-paint clear coat. It was a pain in the ass, but you know what they say... If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.

Of course, my story is extreme. Most people have a much better go at it. Just ask a lot of questions. Good luck! Again, your car has TONS of potential.
