The vent hose is the infamous $12 hose. I just got mine replaced at the $tealership for free. There is a campaign (IE recall) out on it right now. Get this, I had to pay for this part 2 yrs ago and it cost me 400 Bucks! But now I get a refund from them....:D

He changed to cleaning the MAF, but didn't put it in the text, just the thread title.

To the OP: I just use security torx bits to take the insert out. Way quicker.
i use torx keys but the screw on the right is easy enough to take out, how do you suggest i take the one out on the left? there is a lot of plastic around it and basically it comes out after that screw comes out or is there a metal clip below i have to fish out...

C'mon, work with us a little. I said 'use the search' because this has been gone over before with much better instructions than I can hope to give. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w203-c-class/1409143-p0170-mass-air-flow-maf-sensor.html

First page of results of a search for 'remove MAF' turned up that thread with a full set of instructions.

Sorry about my direction for security torx, that was based on the W210 I had before where the MAF was super-easy to remove that way.

Good motoring. Looks like you will need a special tool, might have to put the car back together and go get it.

I use a 9mm socket and a 1/4" extention bar small enough to go through the plastic tubing. Yeah had a hard time too !!!

This may be a dumb question, but which part the the Mass Air Flow Sensor, I have an 05' c230k also, with 45k miles on her. I think the mafs may need a good cleaning, hopefully not a replacing. Can you please tell me how to clean it, and which part it is. Pictures if any body has them would be greatly appreciated.
