I've just copied something I wrote on another post, due to that post being more towards e-bay finds (which is relevant )............................... Got one of those urges to buy a Cosworth.....I've seen a few,the perfect one (for me) I missed by less than an hour.....I want a 2.5 with black leather...Not a mint one and not a knackered one......Sods law has left me with other choices which also tempt me (or should I wait?) I've found a 2.3 black leather, it has twin webbers on it (I posted the ad the other day).....The other a 2.5 but with the black/white cloth which is all ripped (thinking find a black leather interior?)......Forgot to say found a really nice one but it was an auto... Another 2.3 with good condition cloth............All far away except the twin carb one which is 25 mins away............Anyone have experience or thoughts on having these carbs on one?.........15years ago I had vast experience with 190's but hardly any on the Cosworth, will seats and door panels from any 190 fit?.....Should I stick out for a 2.5?.......I ask mainly because of the double chain......Again I must have done hundreds of chains on 190's and lots of other older mercs, but never a Cosie..............The 2.3 near me is said to have had an engine rebuild 26000 miles ago....How prone are the single chains to going?.......Cheers for any thoughts.............http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150524600930&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_928wt_902..........................http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320618444773&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_561wt_902.....................http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150524600930&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_928wt_902............... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180590480788&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_919

If the Weber equipped car is in good condition and really inexpensive I would go for it, toss the Weber set-up and install an EFI stand alone ECU (Megasquirt,Haltech, VEMS,etc) Webers are old technology and troublesome. For less than 1000pds you could do the EFI conversion and have a car that runs better than any Weber carbed car. EFI pretty much guarantees easy starts, rock steady idle, good economy, and a boost in power.

Here is a link to a write-up we did a few years ago in response to another forumers query on converting a 16V to Webers.

Webers on a 16V.doc - Microsoft Word Web App

Cheers,I'm ringing him later and going for a look on Saturday morning (arranged that via e-mail). Going to check out all his bills, and see if he still has all the parts he took off when he fitted the carbs........I once put twin 40's on a Fiat Mirrafiouri sport and never got it to run properly and so removed them again.......I'd go for a look tomorrow but it's going dark early now......There are loads of others at high prices, but I want one to work on....I have a feeling they will be increasing in value.
