Sorry for the stupid question. My coolant level warning came up in the dash. So I opened the reservoir and I cannot see any coolant. I just went and purchased some antifreeze from MBenz which I am going to mix 50/50 with distilled water. My question is where I am supposed to fill it up too. I don’t see any indicator on the tank or inside. Am I suppose to fill it up to where the bottom of the cap would be

Before I would add any thing, I would check the condition of my oil then I would put the running car on a lift and check for obvious leaks(water pump, hoses etc).------Where did the fluid go to???

When you do go to replenish the fluid, lift the cap and inside you will notice a small tang that is apart of the plastic. Fill to the top of that tang.

Good luck!!

thanks for the help. I was searching around the forum and i found a diagram that a member put up showing what you explained about the level of the coolant. The car is in a garage with bad lighting and i finally found my flashlight and saw that there was fluid in the tank and it was maybe 1cm or less below the mark so i dont think its a major problem. I havent looked in there in maybe 2 years. thanks

2 years alone would be good time to change the fluid.
Our cars don't loose coolant for years, so even 2 cm drop in the level is not what I would consider normal. Time to inspect all the hoses and WP for possible drip.

question, I filled mine res over the mark is my car going to explode?
Depends on "how much" over the mark we are talking... Remember, it is an "expansion" reservoir, and fluid "does" expand with heat, and it "is" a pressurized system...

Why not just sucky-sucky the excess with your Mom's turkey baster.... just clean it out prior to next month's Thanksgiving! ~:-O

The reservoirs are design to be idiot proof. The neck has a tube that goes down into the tank leaving necessary air gap for expansion. Even if you top it off on cold, the worst thing can happen the cap will release some coolant outside.
