1997 e320 runs some times and then will not run at all just cranks the crank position sensor R&R ran good for a few weeks then quit MB shop said the wire harness needs to be R&R due to dry rot this does not sound right to me anybody have any idea's

Hello :)

Could be wiring issue, dry rot, or not.
Could be K40 relay module issue. They tend to go bad as they age a lot.
I assume your mechanic checked the fuel pressure.

Yes, I believe it. Crank sensor uses coaxial wires like your typical TV cable or cable modem, and they are known to go bad as car ages.

I checked fuel pressure its good I found the wiring harness they say is bad. I think the ecu maybe bad i can not read any codes give me a link failure.NO check engine light

If the scanner is not reaching the ECU, it is not necessarily the ECU is bad. It probably is not receiving power from the K40 relay module. You need to turn the key to position 2 and measure the power wires that go to the ECU module.
