All-

I would like to get a set (5) of the ContiCrossContact UHP's. Has anyone installed these? From what I noticed they come in 107 and 103 load rating, would there be any ill effect of the 107 rating versus the 103?

I have seen ok reviews of the LX series but no UHP reviews, please help.

Cheers

The load index relates to the weight of the vehicle. You may choose a lower speed rating, but it is highly recommended that you stick with the OEM load spec or higher (load index 109 for the ML500/ML350 (2271 lbs. per tire) and load index 106 for the ML320 (2094 lbs. per tire)).

There are lots of reviews on Tirerack where I bought mine ( $112 ea on sale) and used the money that I "saved" to buy 18" wheels

New tires (285/50 R18) and wheels delivered, mounted and balanced for less than a grand

The load rating for the UHP for 285/50 R18 is 109W, so no worries as long as you are using sturdy wheels.

I haven't been running this combo for long, so my opinion is not fully formed yet (we'll see how well they wear; my CrossTerrains lasted 60k and probably could have gone another 10k). The ride is good and the UHPs are quieter and smoother at high speed than the Michelins. And they sure look a lot better than the 16" minivan wheels
