Im 18 and off to college in about 5 months. Looking for Mercedes that is affordable, reliable, safe, cool, economical, ect... Looks like the 190 is a winner in those categories. For the most part im wondering is the car worth the 3-4k? will it be reliable if I purchase a car in good shape w/ lower miles (around 100k)? How are the engines/tranny's? Are they slow? Im reading all I can aboutthe car as we speak so hopefully I will learn more! Thanks!!!

I'm 18 as well, and I bought the car myself when I was 16. 190E's are well worth the 3-4k, and you'll enjoy it for many years to come. I plan on having mine at least until the end of college, and with only 114K miles on it, it's got at least another 100K left. Sturdy, fast, hard as a rock. Not a racer by any means, but very blingy and the chicks dig it.

The chick factor is on top of my priority list lol. Thats why I want a Mercedes. Of course the german heritage, durability, prestige, and other things are important too. Glad your having luck![8D]

Considering that 2.0's are a bit rare (at least in these parts), I'd recommend a 2.6L. My dad has a 1985 5 speed 2.3L, but he doesn't like it because it feels under powered to him, whereas my 2.6L feels good to him.

By the way, my dad's selling his 2.3L, if anyone is interested. $1750 OBO. Let me know if you'd like to see some pictures and more specs.
