hey guys, i have a good compression tester rated up to 1200 psi. what i dont have or know, is what and where do you attach to the head? the outfit i have was made for a humvee, and even still i have lost the adapter to attach it to anything. where does one attach "something" on the engine to test compression? glow plug hole, etc? and, where can i get what i need to attach to the head? and finally, what PSI should i hope for?

Just get the $30 harbor freight one. It comes with adapters for GP and injectors. You can test at either or. 20-30 bar 290-435psi. I have one you can borrow, its just a drive to get here.

You can use either the glow plug or injector holes, use which ever you have an adapter for. Not sure where to buy just adapters, so you may want to take winmutt's advice.
If you can measure the threads of the adapter you have, the injectors are 25x2.00mm, the glow plugs are 12x1.25mm.
400 psi is ideal, but you won't have that, anything over 300 is good. What you're looking for is any cylinder that is within 10% of any other cylinder. A leak down test, does it hold pressure, is a better indicator, as were one cylinder reading say, 185 and the rest around 300, damage is done.

CORRECTION: the injector is a 24x2.00mm, sorry.
