I have an old 230 GE '83 and want to strip the car down to nothing but the frame, and build a newer G400 on top of the old frame.
I will buy a newer "donor car" G400 and move everything over to the old frame.
End product is a newer G400 with old frame, newer stripped frame from G400 and a heap of old trash from G230.
I do not want to do this myself, and would like to identify one or more mechanical shops in Northern Europe who would do such a job.
Do you have any recommendations?
Thanx

I trust this is a registration / licensing cost driven descision.

Was there a G230 (ie W463 frame)? Perhaps you meant a 230G? The 460 frame would need modification to fit the motor, particularly in the area of the shock towers. One of the turbos supposedly interferes with the frame too.

The electronics would be a nightmare.

I have several contacts who have done such conversions as it used to be a very common way to import new Gs to Norway for avoiding insane car taxes (you keep the original title). A lot of work is needed and my contacts usually charge about 100.000 Nkr (=12500€) and up for preparing a frame and mount a new car upon it.

Try www.autocenteret.no or contact me off list for another two contacts.
Oh, and if you want the car titled in Norway.....forget it. If you change the body mount location (which is nessecary from 460 to 463) taxes must be payed. Building a new 463 on an older 463 frame is still allowed and tax free.
