I want to switch over to steel rims + hubcaps. I need a set of 14 x 6 1/2 rims.
Most threads or ebay listings do not mention the size but the model the rims come off.

Does anybody know which MB had 14 x 6 1/2 steel wheels? Does anybody has a set for sale ?

Thanks

If you look in the on-line Chassis manual section 40, it has the info you need. Any steel rims from 72 on should be the size you need. But check for yourself first.

6.5x14 et30 I believe is the size you want, but with a wheel so narrow, I think you have a lot of play. Unless you have a gen2 (1986+) then steel wheels should work fine on any 107.

I doubt there is a lot of difference in MB steelies. Some might be 5.5 and 6 inch, but would still work.

These should be very easy to find.

Most sellers will have no idea of the offset or even the width in some cases. Heck, some might call 14" wheels 15 or 15.5" because they measure them wrong. If the tire size ends with a 14, then it is a 14. 205/70/14 is the correct tire size for steelies on a 107.

I'm thinking about going to the 15s (as the chassis manual suggests is possible) but I'd like the alloy instead of the steel (lighter.) Not the bundts, the one that can take the 15" hubcaps.

Any idea where I can buy some? Anybody selling any? No idea how to find these, my internet searches have come up empty so far....they must be rare...

The only Mb I know of that has 15's and hubcaps was the 600 grosser but they are also steelies- good luck in finding a set of those!
5.0 SLC's also had available 15" bundts also good luck in finding those!
On regular 14" steelies look for a set that has the brake cooling vanes on the inside- I believe these vanes were not standard on all steelies... ( the original 14" steelies on my 76 450 SLC has them)

I'd like to do the same thing. The additional 1" of sidewall might offset the stiffness of the Bilstein 'sports' and smooth out the ride on bumpy city streets. Add hubcaps and whitewalls and I think it looks sharp. They might not do so well on the track or going through the esses but does that really matter at this stage?

Post back if you find a source.

It is nice to know you have good grip in a turn with smaller sidewalls and sticky tires, but bouncing and sliding all over the road on 14" can be fun too. :)

The 107's are no sports cars, the weight reduction by using Alloys is insignificant because they are below your suspension.
I found my steel rims in the local craigs list. When you start looking around you will find that the rim size is not allays correct measured by the seller. You better asked what tires where on the rims or ask what numbers are stamped next to the valve stem hole. Depending on the tire size you plan to use, ask your tire man on what size and width rims they can be mounted on. I have the 205-70-R14 and found out that they can be mounted on a 14 J 6 1/2 until down to a 14 x J5

Hope that helps and good luck
