go to a dealer - give them your VIN, and your registration that proves you're the owner of the car the unit is installed in - had no problem getting that code. For my newest car I just got, I'll go there on my next visit to get oil changed and ask for the code.

Did you get that sorted? I have exactly the same thing with my b180, it's originally from Japan. Changed region in engineering menu, went to see 3 dealership's, the unit is locked for good. Any info would be appreciated.

No way, I tried everything. Numerous people tried to get it right in so callled diagnostics places. Not even main dealer, I was told I need new unit for 2500 euro. Waist of time.
I came across Mbnaviworld.nl they specialize in that kind of thing, get in touch and he will sort it out. If he can't do it, it can't be done. Let me know how it goes.
