I installed COMAND on my 2001 w210 E320. Everything works and I can get the map directions on the screen but I can't get the nice Fräulein to speak the instructions out loud. Whenever I input the destination (in a parking lot since it takes so much time!) she says "calculating route" then "proceed to the road indicated" and then silence. If I push the repeat button she says "you are not on any known road". Is there something im missing? My CLK500 has voice COMAND so I just push the button and speak the destination and the navigation takes over directions automatically. I'm clueless with this!

Making a guess here.

(For the W211) When her voice comes on, you can mute her voice by pressing the mute button. This mutes all navigation announcements but does not affect music. You could also adjust the volume of voice using the volume control when she is speaking.

Try pressing the repeat announcement and quickly turn up the volume. See if that helps.

Good luck!

Hi, I assisted you when you were looking to get this set up. I'm curious about this Voice thing. How did you discover that your car supported this?

Would be great as it takes way too long to enter a destination in keypad.

Did you ever use a DAS to reset MOST ring to know that Command was there?

Do you get the graphics that show where to turn inside the speedometer? I'm pretty sure that my audio directions where at wrong volume until I reset the DAS MOST ring. And I ascertain that I didn't have the speedometer arrows & compass until i did.

Funny timing, I was coming here to post my incorrectly purchased 2008-9 system for sale again.

Well I have an extra stalk on the steering wheel for "linguatronic". It's kind of inconvenient because you have to push the stalk before you can use the thing. I knew I had it from day one because the salesman made a big deal out of it. Before I upgraded to COMAND though it was truly worthless. But with COMAND and a phone you can just push the level and you hear a beep and you make a "request" and it usually does it. It was a very expensive option when new and I doubt it would be cheap to retrofit and like I said the technology is rather ancient unless you just want to have a novelty in your car.

Yes I had the car coded at the dealer with STAR. Everything worked fine but I wanted to be able to read the COMAND instructions in the MFD in the dash.
