Just wanted to see if anyone had a similar issue. My wife’s 2014 E250 was having Comand issues and restarts and locking up. It all seemed to go away when I ejected all her CDs out as well as her SD card. Then I made the mistake of ordering a nav update online which somehow was corrupted and erased her navigation data off the HDD2 sector on the hard drive. Since I don’t have Xentry, I thought it would be best to drop it off at the Mercedes dealer in Atlanta and have them update firmware and reload the map data to the drive. They called me and said that they could not get the navigation to load and they would just give the car back. They said that they don’t touch any comand units prior to 2015 (maybe anything before 4.7?) Well I thought I tried to get her car to OEM standards, not I will figure how to put a car play module, and just asked to pick up the car. My wife goes to pick up the car and they said that the car was started in diagnostic mode and the comand system won’t boot up. They also said that they can’t communicate now with the head unit, the advisor said it was stuck in a “tamper mode?”
I really don’t know what to think, I am a field technician on medical and pharmaceutical equipment, I find it hard to believe that a dealer can’t support a system less than 10 years old, or that they can’t have a Mercedes field engineer remotely log in through Xentry and reload data/software to the Comand system.
As of now, I don’t know the status, we are driving a 2020 e class, which is more plastic and has iPads for gauges. Trying to figure out options since the operating system of the car is unusable in its current state.
Sorry for the long post!
