Just wanted to see if anyone had a similar issue. My wife’s 2014 E250 was having Comand issues and restarts and locking up. It all seemed to go away when I ejected all her CDs out as well as her SD card. Then I made the mistake of ordering a nav update online which somehow was corrupted and erased her navigation data off the HDD2 sector on the hard drive. Since I don’t have Xentry, I thought it would be best to drop it off at the Mercedes dealer in Atlanta and have them update firmware and reload the map data to the drive. They called me and said that they could not get the navigation to load and they would just give the car back. They said that they don’t touch any comand units prior to 2015 (maybe anything before 4.7?) Well I thought I tried to get her car to OEM standards, not I will figure how to put a car play module, and just asked to pick up the car. My wife goes to pick up the car and they said that the car was started in diagnostic mode and the comand system won’t boot up. They also said that they can’t communicate now with the head unit, the advisor said it was stuck in a “tamper mode?”
I really don’t know what to think, I am a field technician on medical and pharmaceutical equipment, I find it hard to believe that a dealer can’t support a system less than 10 years old, or that they can’t have a Mercedes field engineer remotely log in through Xentry and reload data/software to the Comand system.
As of now, I don’t know the status, we are driving a 2020 e class, which is more plastic and has iPads for gauges. Trying to figure out options since the operating system of the car is unusable in its current state.
Sorry for the long post!

I'm afraid the software you bought corrupted your HDD. On top of the data USB there is an activation card to purchase. This gives the dealer a code to enter into their system to produce an installation code. When you connect the USB the system would ask for this code and then update the map data.

Yeah I had the map software and key, but somehow I think it erased the previous map data and failed to load new to HDD2. In engineering mode it shows no data stored on that sector. Also if you access navigation menu, it just says “reading data.” View attachment 2651754 Electronics Text Electronic device Technology Gadget

I had the instructions and a dealer around me let me do the install after purchasing both the USB and installation/activation card. I never saw the 2nd screen shot you posted. What I recall was seeing it ask for the installation code, which is produced by entering the VIN and activation card code into their system. Did you try contacting the one who sold you the data? If not see what they have to say.

One thing I was surprised to see:. The data I bought for our '12 I believe is for NTG 4.5 and not NTG 4.0 like I thought it would be with the tons of research that I did. Dealer ordered this for me with our VIN. It notes "E-Class Wagon (MY 13-15)" but ours is a '12. First use was towards the end of January 2012. (I got it 2nd hand).
