I'm sure it's been asked before but........ my 1990 230TE is difficult to start from cold (first thing in the morning or if sitting in the car park all day at work)

Turns over fine but I need to pump the gas to get it to fire ...... I need to keep pumping for about 30 seconds then it will idle on it's own very roughly .... then after about another 30 secs it runs perfect ...... after that I could drive all day at any speed with not a single problem ..... I recently changed the head gasket and the problem has happened since then ...... I'm baffled

Please help!

Could be two things or three [:D] One your cold start valve is not working two your OVP relay is not working Three your temp switch is not working and sending the wrong signal to the computer.

Kinda figured that [:)]

Can the OVP relay be damaged by jump starting?

Which temp sensor? there are three near the distributor?

From what your saying, i believe youre experiencing fuel injector leak down. Mine is a S>O>B too as i have to crank er over for 10 20 or more seconds. My ovp was good and my injectors were replaced at about 50-60k miles but need it again at 110k[:(]. Having to pump the gas is a good indicator the injectors are shot! Does it do this hot as well?

That is a possibility, Last night I sprayed some carb cleaner on the injectors when the car was running and the revs shot up, could be the seals which i will replace (got a set with the head gasket set when I replaced it last month).

Thanks

Have you checked the E.H.A Valve O2 Sensor and Fuel distributor? Im just saying check do not replace because these all work together along with the OVP relay and temp swtich the green one with the two plugs. Most people on the forum for any fuel injection problem go straight to the OVP relay or really expensive solutions. But start with the cold start valve then to OVP then to the E.H.A valve then to the temp switch and the last one is the fuel distributor.
