hey all,

when i start my car when its cold, it goes right on up to about 600rpm....when put under load, (into R or D) the car starts shuddering and sometimes cuts out. Most of the time if you put your foot on the accelerator then remove it the car will stall. Ive checked my mixture, idle stabaliser and adjusted to timing to no avail.....well, all i got was a higher idle speed....the idle speed is the same as that in the manual so no problem their, it was surging at idle but the mixture adjustment fixed that, and it wask pinking but the timing fixed that....

my dads 260e had the same problem, it was a choke sender..... another thing is, when the car starts most benzes go on up to 1300 rpm hold their for about 5 seconds then come back down...mine doesnt...

help me

:p

problem improved (i used to be 190e_merc_boy)

bassically what i did was took out the idle control valve (its behind and below the air cleaner and it has a little black wheel on it.) I just used air tool cleaner and an air gun to clean it. Also I went through all the breather hoses cleaning them with kerosine and using a little bit of builders silicon (non acid based) to seal each joint of the breather pipes. I also checked where the tiny vaccuum pipe goes into the fuel pressure regulator. The little rubber tube was split where it goes into the regulator its self....replaced it... Ran some injector cleaner, replaced air filter element, did the ignition timing, adjusted the spark plug gaps, did the mixture and added some "engine tuneup" to the oil. Motor up was the brand. Also cleaned indside the throttle body and removed the foam rubber thats inside the air filter caseing (it was dropping through the air intake into the throttle body). I also took out the cold start valve and cleaned this with kerosine. All of these things made some improvement. The end result was it idled about 100 rpm higher (600rpm) when cold, and about 200 rpm lower when warm (800 - 900 rpm). Although it idles considerably low when cold it wont stall! No matter how hard i try it wont stall!! Im happy! Hope this is some help to you. O yea i also adjust the flap on the air intake. The one below the air filter caseing. It opens and closes with the open and close of the throttle. I adjusted it so when it idles its COMPLETLEY closed. Let me know how u get on, took me 2 months to get this far so i hope youve got the patience!

cheers

I have the answer!

The culprit: Idle Control Valve
My Excuse: Stealership Selling me a Second hand Valve
My Fix: Clean valve with kerosine
Result: Crapped out after a week (it was nice to have a fast idle at cold!! )

BUY A NEW VALVE!! it may cost 447 new zealand dollars but ull be happy [:D]

good luck
