If anybody knows a reliable cold air intake system that I could install into my engine. I have an E550 (2008). Much appreciated.

MB makes a pretty good one. But you might check with Renntech and Brabus who are both experts on tuning Mercedes.

Take a closer look under your hood--your car already has a cold air intake. Two of them in fact, i.e. one for each filter.

Anything from aftermarket will be crap in comparison.

if you want to modify your existing air box, I would spray the bottom of it with a hi temp ceramic paint, which will lower the heat soak into the airbox and provide for a cooler air flowing into the engine.

What do you mean by hot air intake, that seems like a contradiction
The original was a cold air intake....this one will suck lots of hot air from under the bonnet, and a small amount of outside ambient temperature air...so technically there is the contradiction.(but not by me):) Heat shields will help but also cut down the air supply,as most of the air is sucked in through the sides:thumbsup:

Mercedes-Benz Forum.....Better!...I tried using these on my 55 but room is tight...With the "intake" tube going outside, then straight through the filter so no under bonnet (hood) air gets in...I sacked it in the end .

I took a tour of "Renn-Tech" and they do all kinds of things to Mercedes suspension and engines, and did not see any modifications to the air intakes. I have no idea what you expect to gain, I guess holes in the hood with pipes coming out are out of the question!
