I know what the code is, but has anyone done the repair or know what it takes?

P0012 - A camshaft position timing over - retarded bank 1

EDIT: Now the Check Engine light is off. I guess the car has fixed itself... The CEL has gone on and off several times over the past year. Perhaps it's an intermittant problem?

To follow up on the P0012 code, it appears to be a magnet that goes bad on one of four cam sensors. It's a pretty common problem.

If you "Check Engine Light" or CEL comes on, go by Advanced Auto Parts and have them read the code. If it happens while under warranty, you can save yourself some money, othewise it's not too bad to DIY.

Here's a good thread about it on another MB forum: P0012 - Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded (Bank 1) - MBWorld.org Forums
