Hi !

I am a very happy owner of a 1987 560 SEL straight
out of Germany with only one previous owner.

Only problem is that on the far right of the clauster
gauge I have a digital display sorrounded by a
bunch of writting in German, which is activated by a buch of buttons sittuated in the center console next to the window buttons.

Could anyone explain what the writting says and how
do I work the buttons ?

I have included a picture I found of a simillair looking cluster gauge.

That is the onboard trip computer. Not the most common option on the cars, but will give the driver the stats of the cars road trips. Such as elapsed time, miles traveled, average speed, ect.

Regards,

Thanks guys, I assumed that they would give me information in regards to trip taken, time elapsed, millage, consumption etc...
But I can't tell which is which?

Robbo55 could you tell me what they mean and
how do I go about working them. Basically it seems as you stated that they are split into Two coloumns and not Four quadrents as I had assumed, is that right? And the Left coloumn is in regards to Time
whereas the Right column reffers to Distance, okay but what about the sub-coloumns ?
Could you further explain please, and how do I work the buttons?

I really appreciate your feedback,
many thanks,
Kouzaymos...

Left column:
Zeit = time
Am Ziel = at destination/or time of arrival
Ab Start = from start/time or point of departure
Ank Wunsch = the time you want to arrive
(Ankunft = arrival, wunsch = wish )
Soll Durchschn. = the average you want/projected av.
Durchschnitt = average (probably shows speed in km?)
Limit = Limit (same in either language)
Geschw (short for Geschwindigkeit) = speed (kmh or mph)
righ column:
Weg = probably means trip distance
Bis Ziel = to (or until) arrival
Ab start = fron start/start time/time of departure
Bis Tank Leer = until tank is empty (time or distance)
Durchschnitt = average
Teilstrecke = part or partial distance MOM = no idea, could be short for momentum Verbrauch = fuel used Most of this relates to either time or distance i.e. kph = kilometer per hour or mph=miles For one of the best German - English (works in either direction) online dictionaries check Leo,the site of the Technical Univerity Munich at http://dict.leo.org/ plus many other languages incl. German - Arabic. Cheerio, Horst K

Sorry Guys, I have a head cold and this is the best I could come up with on short notice. P.S. The name, Cypriot or Crete?

Many thanks HorstK,
the translation you gave is by far more than I
could wish for. The name Kouzaymos is neither
Cypriot nor Crete, it's just a nickname that I
like, basically inspired from ancient Roman names,
my real name is KAZEM, it's an Arab name, I'm
Lebanese (from Lebanon) a small country situated
in the unfortunately turbulent Middle East. Any
way once again many thanks.

Robbo55, I kind of thought so cause the buttons
on the center console are split into four quadrents.
Much obliged !

BUT !!!!
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO WORK THE BUTTONS ????[?]

Hello, I contacted Volker280E in Wiesbaden. Apparently 3 of his 11 MB's have this trip calculator (Reiserechner), one a W 126. BTW As a small boy my Father and I stayed at the Phoenicia right on the Corniche. Later I lived in the ME for 10 yrs. Cheerio, Horst K

Is there anywhere I could get the speedo face for this cluster. If you notice it has the clock below the speedo. This came out of a 500SEL AMG with the 5.0 DOHC. It would be just fine if it was in Kilometers. Somebody made a decal and if you look close to the pic you can see the decal bubbled up on the left between 40 and 60 MPH.
