Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.

I really enjoyed making it. When the film was shot, there was no concept of editing it that way, but yeah it would be better from outside the car.

Here's a couple more videos, not exactly commercials but at least they show what our rallies are like. (The first one is sped up)

This is my personal favorite, but be warned it's 4 1/2 minutes long- takes a while to load-

vlayton, what is the name of the music track you are using in the commercial? It reminds me of the sound track from the original Omen movie.... kinda creepy, but totally cool. I was almost expecting a wreck at the end with the way the music was building, certainly captured my attention. Good work, Cyberbach

I like your video. Simple but there is some really nice scenery. In the 2nd video of post number 4, were you trailing a euro wagon? I wish we had dirt roads like that here. I've been searching and have a few prospects but nothing that long and smooth.

What did you film these videos with?

Well I did what I could with a hodge-podge of primative technology! I did none of the filming, it was all member-volunteer stuff. Not to gripe, but none of my prescribed directions were really followed. The dash cam work is the best, with the best camera, a pretty slick DV camcorder with a super-wide lens. I took these files from the tapes. Other footage was a lesser DV camcorder, normal lens. Other footage was recorded on VHS-C, played on a VCR, recorded to DV tape, then recored to .mpeg and then converted to .mov! The DV recorders were Sony.

Yes, that's a Euro wagon in the footage. I also have a 3 1/2 min vid of that car filmed through the back window. There's another video almost 3 mins long of the gravel section you liked, with that car in the shot the whole time. You can get to 12 of the 14 videos so far in all from this page:

Thanks for viewing and commenting. I'm hoping some new ideas for shot types will be available from this year's event. Any ideas? From the low side outside showing the front wheel turning back and forth like A-Team or Knight Rider action shots?? Ha ha

If you want to be bold, mount a camera to a tripod and hang it way out the window and film. It is a little risky but you can get some neat shots.

How was the rally?

You asked before it happened! It was the tenth and went pretty good. 7 members and 6 cars. Looking forward to the fall event, October 7 2006. The fall event is the one I expect folks WILL cross states for, it is to be the THE major W123 driving event until someone replicates the Paris to Dakar rally for W123s!

Cheers
