I own a R129 and it is a great car.. But has the usual MB electronic gremlins that pop up from time to time.. My question is that I am considering a CLS 500 as a daily driver and want a view real world reviews.. Any help would be appreciated... The other option is an E class..

Mercedes dependability has improved greatly over the past decade.

That said, the CLS has Airmatic while the (6-cyl) E-Class does not.

General Rule: More complexity always equals mo' problems imho!

All that said, the CLS is truly seductive and the E... not so much.

I have a CLS as a daily driver. It's been over a year now, and I haven't had any major problems at all.

Whether you are getting a CLS or an E class, make sure you get a 2007 model or later. You would save yourself a hassle to deal with SBC brakes and first batch of 7G transmissions.

I have a 2006 CLS500 with 34k miles. I has to replace a strut @ $2k of my own money earlier this year. I don't recall hitting a pothole or anything of that sort. Other than this it has performed very well.

Having owned both cars, id have to say they both drive almost the same and use most of the same systems (earlier models)

But id try to get one as new as you can get, as they removed some of the gremlins as the production went on!
