I have been contacted by an owner who has got a W168, which he has had for seven years
He has just done an ‘A’ Service part of which was to change the engine oil and oil filter. He has also re-set the Assyst no problems.
However when he now turns the keys in the ignition to start the car the oil can appears in the instrument cluster accompanied with a clock symbol above it.

Logic would say that the car is saying it's time to change the oil but that's not the case because he's just done the oil & filter.

I have never heard of these two symbols appearing together has any other owner encountered this display, and if so how did you sort it?

I can find nothing in the MB literature

And nowhere can I find information about these two symbols apart from the handbook OK, etc but it doesn't mention a clock!

Found the info I wanted, some of it's in the handbook, and even more was on my own site , I must get round to reading it sometime!
However there is nothing to explain what the flashing clock is for? if you want the answer see my page 35

I created account just to confirm the solution with oil/clock error.I was fighting with this problem for two years.It wouldn't to start.Thank you a lot

I have a 2003 170 CDI and reset the service indicator after changing the oil. The mechanic said oil change is needed every 15 000 km but the indicator reset to 20 000. Is the service interval really 20 000 on diesels?
