Hi all,

My 2002 W209 CLK200 CGI with M271 1.8 compressor engine is showing P0079. "Exhaust valve-bank 1 Control circuit low"

I have replaced the magnet sensor on exhaust side, and installed the cable extenders that came with the sensor kit. After that, I deleted the codes.

But no, it keeps coming back with the same error code... Engine runs with less power, and will not above 4000rpm. Also smell like rich mixture.

Anyone familier or solved this? Is it caused by oil in the wiring, and if so, will all the wire harness need to be replaced?

I appreciate all kind of advice at this moment.

Perhaps you should have the cam timing and chain checked . These engines are known for the timing chains stretching , which causes incorrect timing.

Thanks a lot, I will check it. The mileage is high, but the chain is supposed to have been replaced not too long ago. Also no noise during startup. But yes, I will check it. (y)
