Does anyone know if a fix has been found for the problem with CLK windows (especially Cab's) dropping 3-4 inches after closing. Is it a new computer program or new control module?

There is a fix and dealers know about it. Need to replace the two front window control modules. This fixes the problem (so far).

You may want to first try re-synching the windows. (more)

Put the window down fully, and then pushing the button, but not using the express feature, push the window all the way up and hold the button for about 5 seconds. That should re-synch the window.

Probably the most common problem on all CLKs ... more

The dealer can fix it, and recent discussion indicates they are now getting the window fix right the first time, but they may need days to open up the door panels, get the module number in your car and then get the right replacement unit.

Smythe in San Jose, California had me in a loaner C230 Kompressor for three days while they did my CLK55.

Re: Probably the most common problem on all CLKs ... more

FYI: Stead Motors in Walnut Creek fixed it in less than a day, probably because they had the correct parts already in hand. The problem was the old modules only allowed a maximum number of motor revolutions, and if the window thought it had encountered an obstruction -- which it easily did, especially on the cabs -- it would retract as a safety feature. The new modules allow the motor to turn more revolutions and the windows stay up. (This is what I've been told) I haven't checked to see if I put my finger or nose in the way of the closing window if it will retract. But all seems well since the fix.

You can use the red switch which controls the top to raise or lower all 4 windows at once. The switch must be activated twice just like double clicking a mouse button. To raise the windows lift on the red switch twice in rapid succession and hold the second time. Lowering push on the switch twice in rapid succession and hold the second time. This information is in the owners manual. When my windows close and then open a little I just use the 'Red Top Control' button to put the windows all the way up again.
I know this is an old thread but the topic is still valid. The auto box on my 02clk 230K cabriolet started playing up not changing up after start but then working after switch off then switch on. After reading the stuff on this site I decided to change the battery. It seems to have worked on the gearbox but the front windows dropped 4" and would not close when the door was shut. I followed the advice of winding up and holding for 5 seconds and that worked. Thanks to all concerned.

Just an update. My new battery is OK. £70 for 100ah and 850 cca which took me ages to source because of the 100ah which is the correct one for my car, the autobox is now working and the window fix still works. Because I see the battery as a consumable I treat these niggles as repaired for free. Still only averaging 20mpg with my wife driving around town. My old 220CE did 25mpg around town.

Still wish I had kept my 1992 220 CE

window going up too far?!

Hi guys.
reading the messages here I haveas rear O/S window problem but the reverse, for some reason this one window is going up about 3/4 inch too high & hence is out of set with the drivers front window.
Does anyone know (a) why this is & if they have seen it before what the fix is? Seems a bit excessive to have strip the interior panel out to get to the window & mechanism, its not loose, just rising up higher than it should for some weird reason.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Not much help here. I have the same problem and as far as I can see taking the panel off is the only solution which I don't want to do. I always drop the window so the front glass doesn't hit it when the door is closed. There is a solution posted on one of the MB club sites if you feel you want to try it.
