Help! I bought a somewhat disassembled 99 clk 430 with 89k. Problem is the wires were detached from the shifter and 2 of the black plastic pieces were still in the shifter. The black pieces are labeled 1 and 2 as they only have two terminals. I need to know which wire is 1 and 2. The first one in question plugs in on drivers side rear of shifter it's just under the plug with lots of wires. The other is rear passenger side of shifter. Will include pics as soon as I get home.

This pic is of the two wires (blue/white), (black/red) that go in the rear right side of the shifter. I need to know which wire plugs into #1 location and which wire goes into #2 loc on the black plastic connector in the factory wiring harness. If anyone could help me out I thank u in advance.

Pic of two plugs in question. Photo sideways, top of shifter is left side of pic...pic is of rear of shifter. The plugs I am pointing to my wires were snatched out of the connectors and I need to know which is top and which is on bottom of each connector, or #1 and #2 label with corosponsing color of wire.

This pic is of the 2 wires that pulled out of the left (driver side) bottom two wire connector on the shifter. One side has two wires(grey/yellow) in one connector the other is just one wire(blue/black)

From WIS drawing for AT circuit, I have a hunch that these 2 wires go to the reverse lamp switch (S16/10 s1) located on the shifter.

black/blue to pin 1. power line in.
grey/yellow to pin 2. These wires are routed to the reversing lamps.

Strangely my WIS shows these colors for W202 shifter unit (N15/5), not for W208 with the same auto transmission.

Note: as this is a normally-open switch, it doesn't matter which way the wires are connected...:)

Awesome. Thanks. Any ideas about the other two wires, blue/white and black/red? I'm also wondering if I can put a shifter out of a ml with the same part number?

I cannot spot the 2 wire colors shown..

Does the unit look like this one in the WIS drawing? That would seem to be also used on W208, W210, & W163 (ML)

That suggests that the connector is for the Gear Recognition switch.

Is there a transmission mode switch mounted on the shifter (W/S)? Those wires have to go somewhere.

Yes they plug in at Y66/1. One has power on it when key is turned on so is that an open switch too were hot can go to either terminal? I will take better pics today.
