Does anyone have any experience with a Renntech tune on a CLK 350? They advertise 290 HP @ 6000 RPM; 278 LB-FT @ 2400-5000 RPM increase from an ECU tune alone for 1295.00.

The full R1 Performance Package for CLK 350 (C209- 298 HP / 288 TQ) for 3990.00 only adds 8 more hp than the ECU upgrade alone by the addition of shorty headers. Those are some expensive headers!

The ECU upgrade seems like the best bang for the buck. Is there a noticable difference from stock?

Are there any negatives to the ECU tune? Drivability, warranty issues? Other opinions?

Thanks.

Did you get an answer? I just bought a '09 CLK350 Cabrio and I am looking for suggestions for HP and exhaust note. What did you end up doing and were you happy?

I have not heard any opinions or experiences with this. I haven't done anything because I don't want to chance any adverse effects on longevity or warranty issues. I still have a couple years of factory warranty left. If I was confident in the safety of doing this, along with noticeable gains, I would have already done it, as I am not too far from the RennTech facility.

Gotcha. I will continue to look around and if I find anything out I will add to this post. No one seems to say anything in other threads except for the AMG owners who seem to think a CLK350 is not worthy of the effort.

I may work some local guys on air intake, exhaust and a tune. If it came with a factory 268 HP it shouldn't be impossible to cross the 300 HP line and that would scoot the car around quite nicely. And I want a bit more growl from the exhaust.
