My '85 300D auto climate control either burns me up or freezes me. It cycles between full heat and no heat. There must be a switch or relay that moderates or stabilizes the temperature. Any help identifying the faulty part is appreciated. Thanks.

The usual culprit is a failing ACC unit itself, a victim of cold solders. It (the unit) is being told to switch back and forth due to intermittent connections internally.

Thanks. By ACC unit you mean the main part in engine bay, not the interior control unit in console-right?

I do mean the interior control unit. Cold solders are a usual occurrence, what with all the vibrations over the decades.

Take out the climate control unit and separate the temperature wheel module from the body. See if you could clean up the contact points and retest in the vehicle.
