The climate control failed to light one night driving home. I removed the backlight bulb and noticed that it was burned out. Went and got a new bulb from the dealer and replaced it. Drum roll please.... Didn't work. I guess it could be the socket, but that looks fine. Anyone have any thoughts?

Take the connectors apart and put back together again MB is known for this on their older cars or clean the connector at the bulb. Use a 12v multi-meter tool to test for power at bulb base.

Update...

I tried the socket and that isn't the problem. My Dad has an E320 also, so I just tried his with no luck. There doesn't seem to be any power getting to the bulb. Could this be a wiring issue or does the whole unit need to be replaced? Using the climate control at night is a mere guessing game right now. This seems to have gone out about the same time a local shop was troubleshooting a problem with the A/C. I would bet the two events are somehow related. Any more thoughts anyone???
