Hello
I had issues with my car, driving slowly i had constant clicking noise when going over irregulairites. I changed the rubber bearings on the top of the struts, but the noise was still present.

Then i pushed up the plastic skirt on the strut protecting the shiny rod, and i noticed a large rubber piece/washer wich should be mounted about middle on the strut had fallen down to the bottom and where loose, so i put it back up where it belongs and added som grease in the bottom in order to lock it if it falls down again, and after that the noise was gone. I guess the rubber piece has been bumping around in the bottom of the strut. Strange that it was the problem but the noise is gone, better check it out on your car if you have issues!

Its a bump stopper, same type as mounted on top of normal struts. But on the W140 the strut is upside down, and of course the rubber falls to the bottom if it gets loose.
