Under all the clear plastic coating, it's real wood. You (& I) get to clean and polish a plastic surface. Regular car wax makes it look great.

Everyone else makes their plastic look like wood, Mercedes makes their wood look like plastic.

Hey, mramay- I tried the wax tip on the wood in my 420SEL - OH MY GOD! It really brought out the shine, and the color also. It NEVER would have ocurred to me to use Meguiar's on the wood! Thanks, Mike!

I use wood polish.
That's what I use on my wood trim, too. I wouldn't use anything else on my trim.

Why? The actual wood veneer is so buried under protective coatings, wood polish does not add any protection. Wax, as mentioned above, works best on the finish. I use the same on my BMW.
