Hi Everyone,

I'm curious about what makes a car a "classic." Is there a certain "criteria?"

What Mercedes models do you think will become/are classics?

I think the W126 has a good chance.

And the convertibles R129 & R107 SL/C class will be classics.

I have a w140 and as much as I love the car, I'm not sure if it'll reach "classic status."

What do u guys think? What cars will become classics?

I'd say the W208 CLK is timeless in design

"Sport" models, i.e. coupes and roadsters, are much more likely to become classics than sedans.

The "cheap" coupes and roadsters less likely than the expensive ones.

When I was at the MB Classic Center in Irvine, I was told that the W107s and W123s recently received "Classic" signification by Mercedes.

When I think of classics I think of models that represent the start of a totally new chaises design such as the original SL w/ pagoda hardtops, the W107s and W123s, and the W220, which all marked the beginning of new model design, along w/ several others.
