DANG, ya beat me to it, I just read and drooled over that write up and yes, I DID notice the flaps (was wondering who else did). My car has been lowered and the flaps would simply be ground off but yea the idea HAD crossed my mindThat's a proper coupe... it has mudflaps.![]()
Sir, it is your DUTY (kinda sorta) to at least look at said car and see how far it has gone (rust and rot) and whether or not it could be saved (at least ask if you could snap some pics) maybe the owner forgot the car was out there ??Oh... this has reminded me of something. There's a pillarless MB coupe of some model or another hidden away in the woods across the way from where I live. Been there for a good twenty years plus for sure. No idea as to the model, just recall thinking how odd it looked not having pillars.
Excellent. The owner is kinda dead, has been 20 years or longer. His widow probably doesn't know the car is out there in the woods, or if she does it's existence is of no concern to her. Fellow who owned the property ran his towing service out of a shop he had built on it and upon his sudden death by unforseen heart attack in his 40's the family had his junk yard cleaned up and has simply let nature reclaim the land. The car in question and a few others are parked at what use to be the edge of the woods that hid the wrecker service shop from view of the street. For many years I wasn't aware cars were even still on the property, but to my surprise someone had hacked a path into the woods from the street and upon walking back in there a year or so back there were still five or so cars, near the old shop, all of which appearing to be whole vehicles. A forest has sprung up around them for the most part. Will see if I can find time to walk over there again soon and report back.
Oh, it's actually visible from the Bing maps aerial view, kinda.
Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions
It's the silver car that's fairly visible. The much clearer "Aerial View" imagery they have is years old though as there are abandoned buildings shown in those pictures that have long since been demolished.
I see what ya mean, didn't even think that the owner could have passed on. As long as you don't risk being shot at or hear banjo music like LostInTime said :big laugh: (THAT was N Ga btw) maybe snap a few pics. The owner is kinda dead, has been 20 years or longer. If he is only 'kinda dead' I would watch out for that too. If you hear rustling noises and banjos run like hell.. diddle ing ding ding ding ding ding ding....The owner is kinda dead, has been 20 years or longer.
Tweeg, let me know when you want to mount this expedition. I'll bring my guitar and watch your back. Out of town until next Wednesday, but anytime after that. Will see if I can find time to walk over there again soon and report back.
My thought tooDepending condition. the Euro bumpers, spoiler and remaining body kit should be worth a pretty penny.
Oh, thanks... if this weren't a Mercedes dedicated website you'd have might like to have known I have about 160 photos presently processing of my old car that's about to go up for sale. You took more and better pictures than 9 out of 10 CL sellers.
