Oh... this has reminded me of something. There's a pillarless MB coupe of some model or another hidden away in the woods across the way from where I live. Been there for a good twenty years plus for sure. No idea as to the model, just recall thinking how odd it looked not having pillars.

That's a proper coupe... it has mudflaps. :)
DANG, ya beat me to it, I just read and drooled over that write up and yes, I DID notice the flaps (was wondering who else did). My car has been lowered and the flaps would simply be ground off but yea the idea HAD crossed my mind

Sir, it is your DUTY (kinda sorta) to at least look at said car and see how far it has gone (rust and rot) and whether or not it could be saved (at least ask if you could snap some pics) maybe the owner forgot the car was out there ??

The owner is kinda dead, has been 20 years or longer. His widow probably doesn't know the car is out there in the woods, or if she does it's existence is of no concern to her. Fellow who owned the property ran his towing service out of a shop he had built on it and upon his sudden death by unforseen heart attack in his 40's the family had his junk yard cleaned up and has simply let nature reclaim the land. The car in question and a few others are parked at what use to be the edge of the woods that hid the wrecker service shop from view of the street. For many years I wasn't aware cars were even still on the property, but to my surprise someone had hacked a path into the woods from the street and upon walking back in there a year or so back there were still five or so cars, near the old shop, all of which appearing to be whole vehicles. A forest has sprung up around them for the most part. Will see if I can find time to walk over there again soon and report back.

Oh, it's actually visible from the Bing maps aerial view, kinda.

It's the silver car that's fairly visible. The much clearer "Aerial View" imagery they have is years old though as there are abandoned buildings shown in those pictures that have long since been demolished.

Excellent.

Report back after you have reconnoitered further.

If you hear any banjo music, run for your life.

I see what ya mean, didn't even think that the owner could have passed on. As long as you don't risk being shot at or hear banjo music like LostInTime said :big laugh: (THAT was N Ga btw) maybe snap a few pics.

I'm sorry, even though I love seeing old cars out on the road I also like seeing "retired" cars resting at peace in an old junk yard, I'm planning on going to the one in White Ga this spring, got some OLD iron in there. There was a show on it on PBS and one of the first cars they laid lens to was, a '54 Caddy, just like what's sittin' in my garage right now. They probably won't let me snag any parts from it but don't mean I can't ask, mainly need both front fenders. My son has a line on NOS floor metal

Not to worry, there are no banjo players in the area. Use caution venturing out in that area on your own nugent, while it is possible to park on the side of the road right at the woods, I would advise against doing so. Safe place to park your car would be a short way down the tracks in the First Baptist Church parking lot. I ventured over four hours ago and would have had the pictures up sooner, but I mistakenly picked up and pocketed my cell phone case on the way out the door instead of the camera case I'd intended to bring, so upon reaching the destination discovered all I had to work with was a sub-par cell phone that doesn't use memory cards. Took over an hour to work out exactly how to and then actually get the pictures off of the phone.

So, not in as good condition as I had remembered it being, but likely was a bit less rust last time I'd seen it. Also, as seen in picture 14, there is a S.C. vehicle inspection sticker present in the windshield and dated October 1994. 1994 Was the last year this state required vehicle inspections, so that would imply this car has likely been sitting in that spot since not long after that time, as once the state discontinued the inspection program they removed the requirement to have that sticker on the windshield. Probably been sitting in that spot now for twenty years as of this year.

Last of the pictures I took. And just to point out, it's a 450SLC.
