Took my car to a Mercedes dealership who gave me a quote for a list of items as long as your arm and at a huge cost. So I've been shopping around for local garages for cheaper prices (with a reasonable amount of success) HOWEVER I've got stuck on one issue; the MB dealer quoted me for replacement of 4 oxygen sensors and a local garage quoted me for 8 oxygen sensors ..so the big question is how many oxygen sensors do I have?
And if I have 8, would it not be advisable to replace all of them not just 4.
Thanks in advance.

The dealer is probably correct. Check around on the W215 forum to make sure. Bosch says they are due to be replaced at 100,000 miles.

I've checked around the forums and the general opinion is that there are 8 - 4 upstream and 4 downstream. I emailed my Mercedes dealership and they have still failed to response to my question. I'm currently at 84KM but I believe the reason they need replacing is because they may be damaged as a result of faulty sparks and ignition coils.
