I got a check engine light notice and engine performance dropped to 6 or 8 cyl. Computer said no malfunction and the light is blinking 3 times on startup and then stops blinking. No unpleasant engine sounds. Anyone experienced this ?

Your car may need a test to see any sparkplug was out and need to be replaced. And it's the cheapest round. Diag. test is needed to check to see which engine having poor function.
Happened to my car, only required to change one sparkplug... and back to normal. Good luck!

could be the ignition module one on each bank of cylinders, one goes out all 6 cylinders die. happened to me on 03 s600

Unfortunately the ignigtion coil packs do go wrong, best to have a diagnostic readout done first. If its the newer model with Temic coils, you cannot change one individual coil, you have to change the whole bank of 6. Very expensive sadly, so the diagnostic test is very important.
