The cigarette lighter in my mom's E320 doesn't work. We have replaced the fuse and that still did not fix the problem. I also rechecked the fuse and it is not blown. What else should I look for?

Faulty ground is common problem.
Take a tester light, ground it on the chassis and check if the center prong is hot (with ignition on)
Could say that in layman's terms? I'm not that mechanically inclined.

Check to see if the cigarette lighter is still plugged in. The plug does come loose occasinally. Pull the ash tray out and reach your fingers behind and feel for the plug, make sure its still plugged in.

As above, the connection is not held that tightly and might have come loose, especially if the ashtray as been pulled off before, its easy not to put the connection properly back .

Take one of those testers and clamp the alligator clip to good ground. On MB good ground is not that easy to find since most of the body bolts are painted and we have high useage of plastics. I think seat rails are the best bed.
Now having good ground insert the probe inside the lighter socket ant poke the center contact. Poke it good, since those things like to have accumulation of dirt on them.
If the light comes on, than you know the hot side works and the socket ground is at fault. If there is no power in the socket, get on the back side and keep on testing up the line.
That tester is also good for testing fuses without removing them from the panel.
