First a word to the wise, parking beside raise trucks is never a good idea.

I learned this the hard way when I came back to find my drivers side door handle cracked nicely (See picts). Now I have a gaping crack in the chrome finish down to the plastic. Any thoughts how I should repair this? I a hoping to catch it before it gets worse.

I have an W220 03 S55.

Thanks very much.

Unfortunately, once the chrome plating is compromised, there is no recourse to restoring the finish other than re-chroming. You can maybe slow the progression of the flaking process by using some clear coat touch up to seal the edges but I feel as though you will not be happy with the long term results.

I found the answer for anyone else who wants to know... too much

$175 labor (Dealer)
$260 Handle (Part)
$100 Paint (the inside of the door handle to match my car's paint)

Looks like clear coat it is!
