I have the tool, I assume we check it with the engine running.

I put in about a pint to much, do i need to drain it back out?

If you don't have a mityvac/etc. you can always unscrew one of the cooler line connections and let some drain out. Less convenient and messier than the mityvac, but do-able.

Where do you get the tool to check the level?
I am sure EBAY has them, but I made my own . I think there is a sticky about it. I used 1/8" plastic coated wire from the hardware store. It is about 3' long, cost maybe $3.

Some members pointed that the cable doesn't have the stop the dipstick does, therefore is going about 1/4" farther than the dipstick with square collar.
Meaning you have perfect level

Shouldn't the question "Why did you need to add fluid?" be asked here?

Seems to me that the level should never drop significantly enough to add a quart or so unless there's a problem that should be addressed.

Am I wrong?

I was doing a fluid and filter change
