Can someone tell me exactly what to look for in a faulty fan clutch?

The car's been running hot for a while so I checked the fan last night after a 30-40 minute drive. With the engine shut off and still hot (slightly over 100C on the temp gauge), I grab a fan blade and give it a shove- you can feel a little drag, but the entire fan will still spin about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn.

Thanks to whoever can tell me
1.) I'm an idiot, that's normal
2.) I'm a wise kung-fu master and should replace the clutch.

The general rule of thumb is let you car idle, turn off the engine and if it turns more than 1.5 turns it's bad.
