How do I check a fuse to see if it is good or bad??
It's for my 1980 450SL fuses that are located inside on passenger side.
I included a picture of the type of fuses below:

I'm not too familiar with these fuses, so any advice would be much appreciated!

2 things--the filament (metal pirce running from top to bottom) will be broken. OR, the ends of the fuses and terminals are dirty/corroded, which may not be bad. Clean them and if they don't work, they're bad.

Thank you very much! That helps ....because I know how to use a test light to check when installed in fuse box....I didn't know if it was possible to do a visual check....Thanks again!
Have a great day!

Hopefully on the inside of the fuse panel you have a diagram...photo of mine (your's may be different) attached. If not others have posted images...do a search. Pretty much tells you all you need to know about fuses. Mine uses only the white and red ones. I replaced all of mine when I bought the car...
ps...use only the brass tip ones...

Use Flosser Copper Ceramic fuses. No plastic - fire hazard.
Buy in bulk on ebay.
To clean the ends of the fuses, use the rubber eraser tip on the ends of a pencil.
Do the same on the fuse box fuse connectors.
Recommend a product called deoxit.

I use a small brass brush for the contacts, and copper top fuses only.
The cheap tin fuses on the different metal fuse box contacts tend to corrode, and can become the cause of annoying electric gremlins.

A buddy installed new / different fuse box with clear glass & stainless tube type fuses.
