The check engine light seems to come on without any real reason on my 1995 C220. I called MB and they thought it was the gas tank lid(not the case), as every thing else in the car seems completely normal operationally - no power loss, etc. Anyone has any ideas?

I don’t know how it is with the new cars but with the 80s gas cars it’s often a bad O2 sensor.

Inspect the engine harness,if has not been replaced the the modified version, I guarantee it is cracking.Early model 202's are especially notorious for the bad harness. A quick check at the harness leading to the air mass might reveal bare copper.
