I have a 2000 S500, 2 days ago it started losing power as I accelerate. I'm going to 2000 rpm to go 30 mph then it drops back down to normal rpms. I looked for transmission fluid leaks but didn't see any. I'm not mechanically sound and therefore am at the mercy of mechanics. If anyone could give me some advice of what may be cause the problem so that I may have a little idea of what the mechanic should be looking at, I would appreciate it...and if you know any good mechanics that work on mercedes in the sacramento area plz let me know. Thx everyone.

So A CEL get a scanner, if you can drive it, take it by autozone or Oreliyes they will check it for free. Sounds like like a Torque Converter or transmission. Did the engine shudder or cut out? Did you feel any jerking or pull?
