Now that it has turned cold, my 15 ML 350 is showing check coolant message every time I start it up. Coolant level is fine. I even took the cap off the resevoir (cold) and squeezed the hoses to get any air bubbles out.
Car is garage kept and runs and cools fine. Any ideas out there??

Just top it off. I've had this situation too. All it might take is like 100ML - 200ML; just enough not to trip the censor.

I had this happen one time with my 15 ML350. It was about -10' out and I left the car outside. I checked the levels and looked for codes. Never happened again.

Yeah, the message was check coolant with an icon. The fluid is some sort pink thing.

That is G40.
Adding two cups of distilled water will not jeopardize antifreeze protection unless you live in Snag,YT. ❄
Correct,

If the light keep coming back on after you top it off. It's time to check the cap and the senor.

For the GLE with the Bi-Turbo's There are (2) coolant reservoir one for the engine and the other for the Bi-turbo's This one is located under the engine cover.

What color is coolant? G40 is reddish, G48 is blue. Put some in and see if that cures the problem.
Levels switch is part of expansion tank.
It's reddish in the tank. Read the manual and it is supposed to be up to the divider when you are looking down into the tank. I topped it off with G5 which is yellow. Think that will be ok? It's Zerex and says it's for MB.

Mixing two formulas won't cause any dangerous reactions or explosions, but it could turn your coolant into a sludgy chemical mixture that won't be able to flow properly through your cooling system or even increased corrosion or damage to the radiator, water pump, rad hoses and head gasket.

A small update...I went to the shop yesterday and apparently the smaller coolant tank for the turbos under the engine cover needed a top up. The guy said that could also trigger the coolant message; not just the big tank.

That answer my question that I had for months. It's tied together on the same circuit with the (2) coolant reservoir.

I have recently removed about 1 half gal of antifreeze and replaced it with G40. Just made me feel a little better.
