interesting that you asked about temp effect on vubration - less vibrates w/ cold temp. Costco did rebalance my tires (dynamic - put the weights both in and outside). Vibration's still there but definitely less.....don't know what I should do next. Taking back to Costco and have them to re-rebalance the tires is probably not a logical thing to do.

Costco tireshop manager told me he had a customer that had Lexus, rebalanced the tires for six times !!

professional wheel balancing and alignment cost $200. and when i get my pirelli p zero i am going to get it done. no place wants to do the w140. since they have some sort of a balancing issue. i just came back from a tire shop. since it has to do with cold and warm he said it could be the tire(air too much or too little) also a damaged rim. after i recently hit a pothole mine stopped i dont know how but i guess it was luck.:) is your vibration coming from the front or rear? if its rear it could be drive-shaft related which i doubt

Update: 1) Costco did rebalance tires - no change 2)Road force balance performed by another tire shop - no change 3) Took it to the MB dealership - he adjusted the drive shaft angle (?) - no chane in vibration, can still feel it between 42 - 60 mph or so 4) Mech recommens drive shaft (u joint) replacement....what do you guys think ?

did you take in for alignment? that makes a difference according to the tire shops. but does yours shake alot? or slightly? mine the steering is no good thanks to the front tires
it is disturbing how many tire shops suggest alignment to fix shimmy or shake...

shake/shimmy/wobble can ONLY be caused by out of round condition/rotation pattern of the wheels...

Alighnment ONLY fixes a condition of the wheel being turning in an improper angle with the body, with no wobble...

in short: alignment fixes irregular/fast tire wear, or poor steering response... and thats it... for wobble/lateral shake, look for out of round or out of balance component turning in an unbalanced manner around its center...

What I think I'm going to do next is put my car on a lift, disable ASR by grounding pin 6, removing all the wheels and accelerate in the air, If I have a driveshaft issue it should arise then, if not vib then at least I know it's the crappy tyres...

The only thing i can add here is that since i added the WALD wheels under my Car the Vibrations have gone , i had W140 W220 W221 & E500 Wheels under mine and the vibration at the specific Speed around 80/90km'h was always there . Problem now is that these wheels look so good on the car that sooner or later i find the car without them when i come back from who knows where i'am on that day, hope not .
Gooooooooo The Wald
Ciao
Forgot to add:
I filled the Tyres with Nitrogen instead of Air this time , feels good if not the same ,lol.
Funny thing was that when i told my WIFE that i filled them with Nitrogen ,she said : So now we blow up in the car do we ,no more smoking in the Car ,lol.

Best tyre i had under were the pirelli P 6000's , beautifull tyre round edged ,the car never used to wonder off when you drive over the semitrailer driven roadtracks ,now i got these stupid Nankangs under and they are not as good ,only got them because the guy at the shop said it was a better tyre for my car (mangrol) ,lol.
I have several bolts here i need to measure them ,If you need to fit W220 wheels then you need longer bolts ( i forgot longer or shorter ,need to check), for the Wald wheels ET35 that i have now ,the W140 Bolts are perfect , i think that with the AMG's that the W140 bolts should be ok but m not to sure ,i'm sure that a lot of member's here with the AMG wheels will let you know here if they fit or not .

i have et47 with original bolts. but i am getting brabus rims with et35 in june.
i had falken tires and those were horrible they go with the flow of the road lol.
but my pirelli p zero m+s are perfect very solid worth buying but very expensive in my size 255/45R18 and 275/40R18 falkens cost about $400 but pirelli costs about $800. falkens gone in 6months total and pirelli lasts me years :)

i heard the vibration can be caused wrong bolts and wheel hubs with bearings. benz dealer told me today

i have offically seen the wheels wobble at 50-60mph like the tires are gone.
I had that with the E500 Wheels under ,they were of the Car in about 2 days ,brand new rims ,now dumped behind the garage here .
The guy at the shop did tell me that the Sidewalls of the E500 rims are to thin and that the weight of the 140 dosnt support it well in turns ,i cant say that i wasnt warned but they look't good on the car , well as usual i think with my vallet more than the brains whatever is left of that ,lol,
at one stage i actually tought that i lost a tyre , thats how bad it was once .
Ciao

the w140 does weigh too much :( tow truck guy charged a extra $75 for it. and all of the professional car lifts go down about 1/2 an inch every 10 minutes :( they said it was about 2 3/4 tons at the dealer. i tried my my w211 rims on my w140 it didn't make any difference(except the rim got slightly damaged but that was the tire guys fault lol) i heard the replica brabus and amg rims are also good on the w140. i had original brabus vi and iii on my old 400sel. i also tried out the replica brabus wheels and they all were perfect :)

BTW the w220 has the same vibration as the w140 :) even my cousin in law's 06 s55 has the 50-60mph shake.

do you know if 18x8 and 18x9 with a offset of 35 would fit good? also would 255/45R18 and 275/40R18 would fit on those rims?

Not to sure about those wheels size exept that the rear once probably will rub a bit over a hump or when you have passengers loaded ,i think they would fit on the rim 18x9, a few members here have them , just dont know onto what rim .
I personally think that W140 MB should all be Brabus ,it just sounds right for this type of car , strong /meaning/ big/ & power ,it's all in that name ,lol.
You got to be kidding me ,didnt MB fix the Vibes on the W220 ? .

Hi. I just bought a 2016 C250d AMG line. Since purchase the car is having a shutter process problem.. Car is in and out of Maritime a certified Mercedes dealership in South Africa and since April this year 2019 no one can pin point why the car is doing it. It's not a shutter from steering. It feels asof the entire Car is shuttering and giving a hopping feel in the ride . Wheels and tires was replaced already frequently. Even the engine and gearbox mountings was replaced. When they took the propshaft off to send for balancing it got worse.propshaft specialist indicated that it's fine. Below 100km/h the car is 100%.nothing wrong. It is from that speed and up its starts the shutter and felt throughout the seats. Driving to 140km and leaving the accelerator its worse and when applying torque its felt more prominent.. Mercedes SA as well as the dealer is now just fault finding but no one can actually say what realy wrong. Does anyone have the same experience Or had it. They ordered a new propshaft now hoping that it would fix it but I am not sure. Hope anyone can assist as it's quite frustrating to take the car back and its there for weeks at a time..
