Has anyone heard of changing the stock Motorola phone in the car to a NEXTEL phone? At the very least for the cell phone service? Appreciate any and all input.

There's no mercedes phone kit for nextel that will integrate with the car's electronics. Your only options are the mercedes StarTac, the mercedes v60, or the Nokia Car kit but the only phone that works with it is a GSM phone (nextel is iDen). If you want in car functionality, you need to buy a generic kit that doesn't fully integrate. If you want full integration, you gotta get rid of Nex-t-hell.

I am not sure, but I recall reading that Steve did an install for some guy. There is a button that you install to use direct connect. I say you talk to Steve about this.
