Has anyone tried this? a family member is a good mechanic and says he can do it but has not done an a class before,i was just wondering if there are any pointers for him or tricks of the trade anyone knows about:bowdown:

I have the Haynes book for the W168. Looks like everything starts with "remove subframe" and some tricks with 3 foot long threaded rods to slide the frame down without doing a full remove...

sorry to drag an old thread up, but can you expand or explain the use of the threaded rod trick mate? I desperately need the subframe replaced as mine is damaged and getting to the dangerous stage but the local garage baulked at changing the subbie for my shiny new one - as it looked "too hard" - getting pee'd off now trying to find someone and show them a reasonable easy way to do the subframe with the engine still in situ! The threaded rod trick sounds exactly what I'm looking for!
